The Hingham Militia company render honors at the opening of the new police and fire station in Hingham

The Hingham Militia was proud to stand in ceremonial formation during the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Town of Hingham’s new Public Safety Facility on August 4, 2025. Positioned near the entrance to the state-of-the-art complex at 35 Essington Drive, members of the Militia lent a solemn and symbolic presence—representing over two centuries of community vigilance, citizen service, and local unity.

Dressed in authentic 18th-century attire, the Militia offered a historical echo of the town’s earliest defenders—ordinary men and women who answered the call to serve their neighbors. In honoring the town’s modern public safety officers, the Militia helped connect Hingham’s past and present, reminding attendees that the values of duty and protection endure across generations.

This event not only commemorated a new chapter in civic infrastructure but also reflected the deep-rooted tradition of volunteerism and public engagement that has shaped Hingham from its colonial foundations to today. The Militia thanks the town and its leaders for allowing us to share in this moment of pride, progress, and purpose.
